It is 1961 and the world lives in fear of the Cold War. Nowhere more so than in Winnipeg, which just happens to sit directly in the path between Russia and the nuclear missile silos of North Dakota. What a time! For Michael Suda, the threat of annihilation is the least of his worries. In the midst of shrieking air raid sirens and menacing nuns at Holy Ghost Catholic School, he’s found himself in the middle of his own personal crisis. He’s in love. There’s the sardonic and clumsy Danuta and the beautiful Sister Lioba. Bombs aren’t the only thing that could blow up. Based on the short stories of Ryszard Dubanski.
